Monsters, Inc. coaster track takes shape at Hollywood Studios

An October 23 aerial photo shows curved track on supports and more pieces waiting nearby. This is a construction update, not a coaster opening-date announcement.

The Monsters, Inc. door coaster is becoming easier to picture. An aerial photograph by bioreconstruct, taken October 23 and shared October 24, shows a curved white track section on dark supports, with more pieces staged beside the construction site at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

What the photo shows

The installed curve and the loose pieces are two different things: some track is in position, while other sections are still waiting to be placed. The photograph gives us a look at the layout taking shape, but it does not establish exactly when each section was installed.

WDWNT highlighted the image in its October 24 construction report. The original photograph is linked above so you can look at the details for yourself.

And when can we ride?

Disney has announced a suspended coaster inspired by the door vault in Monsters, Inc., with a vertical lift that hoists riders into the action. That is the ride concept, not a promise that the attraction is nearly finished.

Disney’s August 16 update says parts of Monstropolis will open in 2027 while work continues on the coaster. Those are separate milestones. This new photograph is not an announcement of the coaster’s opening date.
