“
My therapist told me about the “Main Street theory,” and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. The Main Street theory is this: Sometimes you don’t realize how much you needed a break from real life until you walk down Main Street.

Because one minute you’re carrying all the normal adult stuff. The bills. The stress. The schedules. The laundry. The work. The constant feeling that there’s always something else you should be doing.

And then suddenly, you’re there. You hear the music. You smell the popcorn. You see the castle at the end of the street. And for a second, everything feels a little lighter. Not because your problems disappeared. Not because real life isn’t waiting for you when you get home. But because that little part of you that still believes in magic gets to breathe for a minute.

That’s what Main Street does. It makes you feel like you stepped into a memory. It reminds you of being little. It reminds you of family trips. It reminds you of the version of yourself who used to get excited about the smallest things.

And maybe that’s why so many adults love Disney so much. Because we’re not trying to escape reality forever. We’re just trying to remember that joy still exists. That wonder still matters. That a song, a smell, a castle, and a walk down Main Street can still make you feel something.

So yes, I’m an adult. And yes, Main Street still gets me every single time. That’s the Main Street theory. And honestly? I think she was right.
